Nickel is a transition metal element with element symbol Ni, located in group VIII of the fourth period, with atomic number 28. Nickel is a silver-white metal with good mechanical strength and ductility. 2. Atmospheric leaching and biological leaching can be carried out under normal temperature and normal pressure conditions, with low equipment requirements, simple process and convenient operation, so the investment is low and the production cost is low.
3. The pressurized acid leaching method has a lot of solid-liquid waste and pollutes the environment. The new process such as biological leaching will not produce SO2 gas, and the solid and liquid waste produced can also be accepted by the environment and is very environmentally friendly.
However, these new processes are still immature, and there are still some technical problems. For example, it is difficult to separate the leachate in atmospheric leaching, and biological leaching also has the problem that organic acids cannot be recycled. It can be seen from the current reports that atmospheric and biological leaching technologies treat nickel from laterite The leaching rate of nickel and cobalt during mining is generally lower than that of pressure acid leaching. Although there are many problems, it is believed that through continuous improvement of technology, it will eventually be solved. Atmospheric leaching and biological leaching will definitely have a good development prospect.
Other methods
Electrolysis method: Roast the enriched sulfide ore into oxide, reduce it to crude nickel with carbon, and then obtain pure metallic nickel through electrolysis.
Carbonylation method: Nickel sulfide ore reacts with carbon monoxide to generate nickel tetracarbonyl, which is decomposed after heating to obtain metallic nickel with high purity.
Hydrogen reduction method: reduce nickel oxide with hydrogen to obtain metallic nickel.
